Adding the new Map without losing your hard work

Updated: Oct 7, 2019

Hi there everybody..

I have realized that with the different versions I released of the Map, there has been some issues. like the windrow i fixed is acting up still... well it is actually caused it seems like the old saved game that is not updated.

Firstly you should naturally start a new game with a new map, this will ensure you have all the new features of the new map... but for those of you who have invested a lot of time building your farm, it is sad to loose all that hard work. I have investigated it a bit and it seems you can still keep a lot of, if not all of your hard work... so do not dis-pear :)

I cannot guarantee you wont loose anything but here goes nothing:

#######Before you add the new Map####### (Only if you want to keep old save game)

1. Harvest all your crops and sell what you can if the price is good or store the rest in your storage. do not plant any new crops, just empty your fields..

2. Save your game. (Make a note of your save game slot 1 or 2 or whatever slot you used)

3. Exit game

4. Now add the new map (over-right or delete old and copy new map into mods folder)

5. Start game and start a new save do not delete the old one just start a new save making note of your Save Game position for the new Map. Start the game in same difficulty as your old game)

6. Once in the game simple save the game and exit the game fully.

7. Now back in windows, navigate to your Documents folder where your game stuff is stored.. normally this would be in MyDocuments/MyGames/FarmingSimulator19

Here you should see all your saved game slots...Now go to your old save Game first. Be it SaveGame5 or so...

8. Copy the following .xml files only and overwrite the new save game files..

Now dont mess this up (if you do, luckily there is a folder called Savegamebackup)

careerSavegame.xml

courseplayCustomFields.xml (if you use courseplay... otherwise leave this)

courseplaySettings.xml (same here)

economy.xml

environment.xml

farmland.xml

farms.xml

fruit_density_growthState.xml

items.xml

missions.xml

npc.xml

treePlant.xml

vehicles.xml

weed_growthState.xml

9. Once all these files are copied over, start the game and open your new save game..

First say a lot of prayers, then apply some faith and open the new save game..

You should be financially where you were as well as the vehicles and owned property etc...

Hope this helps...

This will also solve the windrow issues, as the map collision etc doesn't get updated even if you add the new map to the mods folder.. it will default to the save

Field windrow tests... all working

game..

So do not copy any other files except these otherwise you will end up with problems :)

Take care as always...

Cheers:)

Dear Ian. Thank you for explaining the way to keep a lot of the changes we have made to our farms and fields in great detail it is much appreciated. However I am going to delete my old save and start again, The reason for this is I realise that there are changes I would like to make and as time is no object ( I am semi-retired) I think this would be the way to go. Still looking forward to v.004. Regards James.
